About us
After 150 years, the fire is lit again. Izaak Reich revives a glassmaking tradition that once flourished in Staré Hutě — a small Czech village whose name means, quite literally, “the old glassworks.” Today, we handcraft mouth-blown, lead-free crystal in a modern glassworks that carries the name of the master glassmaker who founded a celebrated dynasty here.
In the 19th century, Izaak Reich laid the foundations of a glassmaking empire in the Moravian hills. Under the family firm S. Reich & Co., it grew to span more than a dozen factories across the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Reich glass found its way into some of the most iconic destinations of the era—from the grandeur of Vienna’s Hofburg Palace to the newly opened Paris Métro, and even into the dining salons of the Titanic.
With commercial offices in London, Paris, and Berlin, the company’s reputation quickly extended across the Atlantic, establishing a permanent sales branch in the heart of New York City at 50 Murray Street.
Then, the twentieth century intervened. The empire fell silent, and for nearly eighty years glassmaking vanished from Staré Hutě, leaving only the village’s name as a reminder of what had once been.

In 2019, the history came calling. The story begins again with founder Adam Havlíček, who grew up on the Zikmundov farm in Staré Hutě, surrounded by the remnants of the old glassworks. As a child, he would find fragments of historic glass in the creek running through the land—small, glittering pieces of a forgotten craft. Decades later, a chance discovery of old archival materials about the Reich family transformed this childhood fascination into an ambitious mission: to bring the craft back to life in the very place where it all began.

We believe great design is as practical as it is beautiful. Every Izaak Reich glass is shaped in close collaboration with elite winemakers, precisely tuned to reveal the true character, aroma, and texture of every vintage. Each piece is mouth-blown from exceptionally pure, lead-free crystal and arrives with a certificate of authenticity, marked by the artisan who created it.
Our debut Linden Collection was created alongside acclaimed Czech glass artist and designer Rony Plesl as a tribute to the legacy of the Reich family. Its timeless form subtly echoes the shape of a linden leaf—a quiet nod to the historic linden tree planted in Staré Hutě over two centuries ago by Izaak Reich himself.
